GBI Makes Budget Cuts 17.AUG.08 Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime labs are feeling the pinch because of state budget cuts mandated by Gov. Sonny Perdue.
The GBI has to cut its budget by 6 percent along with other state agencies under Perdue's directive, due to sharp revenue shortages in a slowing national economy. [ See Full Report ]
Another Train Accident at Ignico Dr
Staff Reporter 14.AUG.08 According to Sgt. Tommy Spires with the Houston County Sheriffs office, a train was traveling North between Green St. and Ignico Dr this morning about 7:14am when it collided with a 99 Black Rodeo. The Rodeo driven by Emiliano Flores-Benitez was making a left turn . Apparently Emiliano under estimated the distance of the approaching train and proceeded over the tracks only to realize that the train was moving too fast to avoid collision. Emiliano was taken to Houston Medical center with minor injuries. Investigations are still going on. Stay tuned to www.warnerrobinsgotnews.com for update.
Galleria Mall gets a Golden Corral
Golden Corral is being built in the Galleria Mall parking lot. A call to the mall office revealed that the fence is because construction is expected to begin soon on what will be Houston County's only Golden Corral restaurant. It will be located near where the Goodwill dropoff station is now. The Golden Corral is a family-style restaurant that offers a buffet and a variety of menu items, including grilled chicken, pork, salmon steaks, steak burgers and sausage. Golden Corrals are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Traffic Stop = Drug Bust
About 200 grams of cocaine was seized and two people were arrested after a traffic stop Monday night, authorities said. Tawnya Anderson, 39, and Marcus Anderson, 34, both of Moultrie, were charged with trafficking cocaine, Houston County Sheriff's Sgt. Clay Chambers said Tuesday. The two were being held at the Houston County jail in Perry, the officer said.
On 08/08/08, at 0115 hours, uniformed officers of the Warner Robins Police Department were dispatched to Randall Heights Apartments located at 306 Elberta Road.The 911 call was received in reference to shots fired in the area.Upon arrival, uniformed officers met with the victim who stated that person(s) unknown had fired several shots from a firearm into her apartment.The victim told officers that she heard several gunshots; waking her, and moments later she was taken to safety by members of the apartment complex.There were no reported injuries during the incident.Witnesses at the scene observed a black male walk into the complex, fire multiple shots, and then flee the complex on foot. Man Pleads Guilty to Kidnapping in Warner Robins

A Warner Robins man will spend at least 10 years in prison for attacking his estranged wife, according to Chief Assistant District Attorney Jason Ashford.Ashford says Jabari Hikene Fields, 23, pleaded guilty to kidnapping on Thursday.
He says Fields and two other people abducted Fields' estranged wife, handcuffed her and forced her into the trunk of a car. He says they then forced her to withdraw money from an ATM. Ashford says the two other people are awaiting trial for the crime. He says a judge sentenced Fields to 20 years, requiring him to serve at least ten years in prison with no parole.

Warner Robins HOMICIDE!
On August 8, 2008 at 12:11 AM officers of the Warner Robins Police Department responded to Cedar Point Apartments located at 135 Ignico Drive in reference to a person who had been shot. A continuing investigation determined that a male 34 years of age was found lying in parking lot behind the 100 building with multiple gunshot wounds. Houston County EMS was summoned to the scene and transported the victim to the Houston Medical Center for treatment. The victim died as a result of his wounds shortly after arriving at the Medical Center. The case is being investigated as a homicide and the name of the victim is not being released at this time. Detective Karen Stokes of the Warner Robins Police Department Criminal Investigations Division is conducting the continuing investigation. [ Click Here For Update ]
